Since 2007 Volume One's Best of the Chippewa Valley Reader Poll has been a source for locals and visitors to find the best music, food, shopping, entertainment, and professional services.
Each November, a fair chunk of the Chippewa Valley's population cast their votes for their favorites in hundreds of categories. The participating businesses, artists, and professionals promote the heck out of the poll. And the winners display our yellow Best-Of logo everywhere they can: websites, plaques, ads, and billboards.

The year in the poll name refers to the year the poll will come out. So voting would happen Nov 2026 for the “Best of 2027”. The results are released in a Feb 2027 issue.
Users must be verified before they can vote. They get one vote per item, on as many things as they like. Nominees can’t offer bribes for votes, or hire click farms to vote for them.

The Best-Of poll voting generally starts the week of Thanksgiving. We try (really hard) to pre-populate the poll categories with appropriate nominations, and there is a nomination period the week before the voting opens to give people a chance to be entered properly. Nominations can also be added during voting.
Voting runs for about 3 weeks, and ends early December.
The results are announced to the public in our early February magazine issue, and posted online at that same time.
We reach out to winners as during Dec and Jan, to offer them awards, winner badges, and advertising opportunities.
Winners may order a free paper certificate, a wood block plaque, or a premium wall plaque.
